Frequently Asked Questions

What is supported living?

Supported living provides accommodation and tailored support to help adults live as independently as possible. Each person has their own tenancy and receives support designed around their needs, goals and lifestyle. It’s about promoting choice, control, and independence in a safe and supportive environment.

Who is supported living suitable for?

Our supported living service is designed for males over 25 who need some support with day to day living, for example, people with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, mental health conditions, or other support needs. We tailor our support to each person’s abilities, goals, and preferences.

Where is your service based?

Our supported living homes are based in Derby. Each property offers comfortable, safe accommodation with private spaces and communal areas.

Is the accommodation shared or independent?

Most of our homes are shared properties with private bedrooms, although we can support people in theire own homes depending on need and availability.

What kind of support do you provide?

  • We offer flexible support based on individual needs, which may include:
  • Help with daily living (cooking, cleaning, budgeting)
  • Managing medication
  • Support with personal care
  • Building social skills and confidence
  • Accessing education, employment, and community activities
  • Emotional and wellbeing support
  • We support individuals to attend appointments, stay on top of their health, and understand any information given to them by professionals.

How much independence will I have?

You’ll have as much independence as you want and feel comfortable with. Our goal is to empower you to make your own choices and live as independently as possible, with support always available when you need it.

Are staff available 24 hours a day?

Yes, we provide 24-hour support, which is made up of staff onsite 9am – 7pm and then an on call system over night, to ensure safety and peace of mind for everyone in our care.

How are support plans created?

Each person has a personalised support plan developed collaboratively with them (and their family or social worker if appropriate). We focus on your goals, preferences, and what’s important to you.

Do residents have their own rooms or flats?

Yes. Everyone has their own private bedroom, which they can decorate and make their own. Shared areas such as kitchens and living rooms encourage community and social interaction.

Can family and friends visit?

Absolutely! Family and friends are welcome to visit during day time hours, and we encourage maintaining those important relationships and connections.

How do you ensure residents are safe?

Safety and wellbeing are our top priorities. All our staff are fully trained and DBS- checked, and we follow strict safeguarding and health & safety policies. We also promote independence safely, with appropriate risk assessments in place.

How do I apply for supported living?

You can get in touch directly, or a social worker, care coordinator, or family member can make a referral on your behalf. We’ll arrange an initial meeting and assessment to ensure our service is the right fit for your needs.

How is supported living funded?

Funding can come from the local authority, NHS, or privately. We can guide you through the funding process and help you understand your options.

What makes your service different?

We take a person-centred, holistic approach. Our team genuinely cares about helping individuals build confidence, reach personal goals, and live fulfilling lives, not just manage day-to-day tasks. We focus on empowerment, respect, and genuine connection.

Can residents bring their own furniture or belongings?

Yes! We encourage everyone to make their space feel like home. You’re welcome to bring your own furniture, decorations, and personal items.

Do you support people with complex needs?
